President Muhammadu Buhari has sparked divergent social media reactions following his appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi, as the new Director-General of the Department of Security Service (DSS).
The appointment was made known in a statement by Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu on Thursday.
Yusuf Magaji , an indigene of Kano State replaces Matthew Seiyeifa, who has been operating in acting capacity since Lawal Daura was fired.
This development has stirred up public debates among Nigerians, particularly social media users.
While some Nigerians stated that the appointment was good and in line with the constitutional powers to hire whoever he deems fit to head any of the security agencies, others think otherwise; saying that key appointment such as the DG DSS ought to reflect the federal character of Nigeria as a multi-ethnic nation with 36 federating units
