
The late President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has been laid to rest at the al-Bateen cemetery in Abu Dhabi.
Funeral prayers for the late Ruler were said at the Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed, the First Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The prayers were led by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan joined by members of the Al Nahyan family.
The body of the late Ruler then departed for the Al Bateen Cemetery in Abu Dhabi, accompanied by Sheikh Mohamed and members of Al Nahyan family.
After Maghrib (sunset) prayers were also said by citizens and residents in mosques across the country for the departed leader.
Sheikh Mohamed is expected to receive condolences from the rulers of the Emirates and other senior officials on Saturday.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan died on Friday at the age of 73.
