Following the recent killing of over 200 persons and the displacement of over 38, 000 others by suspected herdsmen in eleven villages of Plateau State, indigenes of the state base in the United States of America have staged a peaceful protest to condemn the act.
This they said is to draw international attention to the genocide happening in the State.
The protest took place at various embassies and consulates across the United States.
The protest which happened on Friday, 13th July, 2018, in Washington DC, Atlanta and New York, condemned the killings which they describe as,, “ethnic cleansing” and called on the international community to come to the aid of the helpless citizens of Plateau by putting pressure on relevant Nigerian authorities.
In the same light, Plateau citizens in South Africa have slated Friday 20th July, 2018, as the day of protest at the Nigerian Embassy in Pretoria.
It will be recalled that Plateau citizens in the UK protested both in London and Manchester on Friday, 6th July 2018, at the Nigerian High Commission London, Manchester City Centre and 10 Downing Street (the UK Prime Minister’s office).
