Security operatives have intercepted a truck laden with “over 164,000 live cartridges” and arrested a man suspected to be supplying arms in Anambra State.
The discovery followed a joint operation by Sector 5 troops of Operation Udo Ka, operatives of the 63 Brigade, and the Department of State Services (DSS), based on what military sources described as “credible intelligence”.
According to a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, the suspected arms supplier was identified as Emeka Omenife.
Omenife was arrested on May 29 along the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway and handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for interrogation.

His accomplice, Uchenna Obiora, was arrested on May 30 at the Onitsha-Awka tollgate after Omenife’s confession.
Obiora was arrested while awaiting the delivery of the ammunition.
Makama noted that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the smuggling network.
