The Anambra State Governor and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, is coasting home to victory after winning all the 19 local government areas (LGAs) declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Saturday’s off-cycle governorship election.

According to the electoral umpire, the incumbent governor has won 19 LGAs out of the 21 LGAs in Anambra State with very high margins.

Soludo scored 35,559 votes in his own LGA, Aguata, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 4,125 votes.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party candidate, George Moghalu, scored 124 votes.

He also defeated Ukachukwu in the APC candidate’s own local government area, Nnewi South, after scoring 17,286 votes as against his 9,281 votes.

Soludo was also declared winner in Dunukofia, Njikoka, Ogbaru, Awka North, Awka South, Orumba North, Orumba South, and Ekwusigo local government areas.

Other LGAs he won include: Nnewi North, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Ayamelum, and Anambra East.

There are, however, only two local government areas left to be declared by INEC. The two are Ihiala and Anambra West.

The commission and its officials have gone on a one-hour break, hoping to return by 6 a.m. to complete the exercise.
