South African Football Association president, Danny Jordan, has publicly thrown his weight behind the Super Eagles as they prepare for Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup play-off final against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The match will take place at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat. The match, which will determine the continent’s final ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is scheduled to kick off at 8:00 p.m. (Nigerian time).
Naija News reports that South Africa finished ahead of Nigeria in Group C to claim the automatic qualification slot, yet Jordan chose to put rivalry aside. He offered warm wishes to the Super Eagles and expressed confidence in their ability to rise to the occasion.
“Nigeria was in our group; it was a tight group and very stressful. I want to wish Nigeria the best in their match against the Democratic Republic of Congo. To Amaju Pinnick, my friend and the president of the NFF (Ibrahim Gusau), I wish them the best,” Jordan said in a short video posted on SAFA’s X account.
Jordan also spoke highly of the team’s quality and depth, noting that Nigeria have the players to impose themselves on any opponent when it matters.
He said, “Nigeria is a big team; they have players who are among the best in the world, and I hope they will play true to their form and ability and get a good result.”
