Nigerian broadcaster Rufai Oseni tackles government over alleged negotiation with bandits

A Nigerian TV broadcaster has gone viral after questioning the government’s handling of the recent release of kidnapped victims, calling the entire situation “confusing” and “unsettling.”

In a passionate on-air rant, he blasted the authorities for allegedly negotiating with bandits instead of arresting them.

He questioned how criminals who kidnapped people in Kebbi were allowed to walk free after releasing 24 victims.

According to him, the entire process raises serious questions about justice, accountability, and the safety of citizens.

He wondered why there were no arrests, no confrontation, and no clear explanation from the government, asking whether ransom was paid and why the perpetrators are not being prosecuted.

He also compared the situation with the government’s tough stance on Nnamdi Kanu, asking why someone accused of inciting violence is facing harsh punishment while those responsible for abducting citizens appear to face no consequences.
