Christmas travel turned into a nightmare for hundreds of motorists as severe gridlock brought movement to a standstill on the Lokoja–Abuja highway, just days before Christmas.
This video captures the real-life frustration and tension as travelers heading to different parts of Nigeria—including Enugu and the South-East—were stranded for hours, from Saturday into Sunday morning, with little or no progress.
According to reports, several drivers said they had been stuck since early Saturday morning, traveling with families and loved ones in hopes of celebrating Christmas together.
Security operatives and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were seen on ground making efforts to manage the congestion and restore traffic flow.
