The United States has issued a strong warning to terrorist groups following the Christmas Day military action against ISIS in Nigeria, commending the Nigerian government for its support and cooperation.
In a statement posted on X, US Secretary of the Department of War, Pete Hegseth, said President Donald Trump had made it clear that the killing of innocent Christians must stop.
“The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end.”
Hegseth revealed that US forces had taken action against ISIS on Christmas Day, stressing Washington’s readiness to respond to threats.
“The @DeptofWar is always ready, so ISIS found out tonight — on Christmas. More to come…”
He also expressed appreciation for Nigeria’s role in counterterrorism efforts.
“Grateful for Nigerian government support & cooperation.”
The development underscores growing US–Nigeria security collaboration amid ongoing concerns over terrorism and religiously motivated violence in the region.
