His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, has expressed deep appreciation to His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, for the honour and royal hospitality extended to him during his recent investiture at the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

He prayed for continued good health, wisdom, and divine grace for the Ooni of Ife, while reaffirming his respect for the Yoruba traditional institution and its role in promoting unity, peace, and Pan-African solidarity.

Alhaja Sherifaah Mahama Dundu, who wrote on behalf of the Ghanaian President and the entire family following the historic ceremony where Mahama was conferred with the revered traditional title of Aare Atayeto described the investiture as a moment of profound honour and cultural significance, noting that it further strengthened the longstanding historical and cultural ties between Nigeria and Ghana.

“I write with deep respect and sincere appreciation for the honour and warmth extended to me by His Imperial Majesty during the historic investiture ceremony at the Palace of the Ooni of Ife.”

Mahama also commended the Ooni for his generosity, exemplary leadership, and commitment to cultural diplomacy, stating that the dignity and prestige of the ancient throne of Oduduwa were clearly reflected in the organisation and conduct of the ceremony.

“The dignity, orderliness, and cultural depth that characterised the ceremony reflect the enduring values of the revered throne of Oduduwa,” he said.

The statement further acknowledged the thoughtful arrangements made by the palace to ensure the success of the event, describing them as a testament to the Ooni’s dedication to preserving Yoruba heritage and fostering unity across Africa.

Special recognition was also given to Her Royal Highness, Olórì Mariam Ogunwusi, who, despite being away on official travel, ensured the provision of beautifully curated gifts for distinguished guests who attended the ceremony.

“Though physically absent, Her Royal Highness’s presence was deeply felt through her thoughtful gestures, which reflected foresight, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to the dignity of the palace.”

The conferment of the Aare Atayeto title, an honour symbolising peace, unity, and service to humanity was further enriched by the palace’s noble support and exemplary organisation.
