Matchroom chairman, Eddie Hearn spoke of his personal devastation following Anthony Joshua fatal accident, describing the loss as deeply painful. “With the heaviest of hearts. Two great men. Rest in eternal peace, Sina and Latz. My thoughts and deepest prayers are with everyone,” Hearn said.

Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated Joshua in their two championship encounters, shared a message of solidarity. “This is an unbelievable loss,” Usyk wrote on social media. “Sina and Latz were incredible people not only part of AJ’s team, but also his friends. My sincere condolences to their families and loved ones. Anthony, I wish you a speedy recovery. Stay strong, champion.”

British middleweight Chris Eubank Jr., who knew both men personally, echoed those sentiments. “Thank God our heavyweight champ survived that horrible car crash,” he wrote. “And prayers for the two fallen soldiers, Latz and Sina, and their families. I knew both, they were genuinely good men. Rest in peace, boys.”

Jake Paul, whom Joshua defeated by sixth-round knockout just ten days earlier in Miami, set competition aside to reflect on the bigger picture. “Life is much more important than boxing,” Paul wrote. “I am praying for the lost lives, AJ, and everyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident.”

Tyson Fury, Joshua’s longtime rival and a potential future opponent, also offered his condolences. “This is so sad,” Fury said. “May God give them a good bed in heaven,” adding prayers for Joshua’s recovery.

Former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko shared his support as well. “I’m deeply saddened to hear about AJ and his close-knit group of friends,” Klitschko said. “I’ve always regarded Anthony as a true class act who commands my utmost respect. My heart goes out to him and his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Francis Ngannou, who faced Joshua in Saudi Arabia, wrote: “Hoping for a speedy recovery for AJ and my sincere condolences to all those who lost their lives in today’s tragedy in Lagos.”

The tragedy now casts uncertainty over Joshua’s immediate boxing future. He had been expected to return to the ring in February, with long-term plans pointing toward a potential showdown with Tyson Fury in 2026. For now, those timelines are secondary as Joshua focuses on recovery and copes with the emotional weight of losing two people who were central to both his career and his life.
