Anambra-based native doctor, Onyebuchi Okocha, widely known as Onyeze Jesus, has been sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay a ₦20 million fine.

The conviction comes as part of the Anambra State Government’s ongoing crackdown on alleged ritual practices and deceptive spiritual activities linked to crime. Onyeze Jesus was prosecuted alongside other well-known native doctors, including Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly called Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki, and Ekene Igbonekwu, also known as Eke Hit.

The prosecution follows the enforcement of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, introduced under Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

The law outlaws the promotion and performance of practices popularly known as “Oke-Ite” and “Ezenwanyi,” which are alleged to promise wealth, protection, or success through mystical or ritual means. Authorities say the legislation is aimed at curbing criminal activities and discouraging practices believed to mislead members of the public.
