PHOTOS: Agege Food Hub To Strengthen Lagos Food Distribution Network, Says Gov. Sanwo-Olu
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said the newly completed Fresh Food Hub in Agege will help strengthen the state’s food distribution network by bringing farmers, traders, retailers and consumers closer together.
Sanwo-Olu made this known in a post on his X handle on Wednesday, explaining that the Agege facility forms part of a wider network being developed by the state to improve the movement of food across Lagos.
He said the Agege hub, located in Pen Cinema, is one of the middle-level distribution points supplied by the Central Food Security and Logistics Hub at Ketu-Ereyun.
According to the governor, the strategy is to establish a network of food hubs across different parts of the state to bring food distribution closer to communities and improve efficiency.
“Agege is one of the middle-level hubs in our wider food distribution network, supplied by the Central Food Security and Logistics Hub at Ketu-Ereyun,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He added that the Agege facility would work alongside other hubs, including the one in Mushin, as part of efforts to strengthen food security across Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu said the 7,000-square-metre facility has provisions for hundreds of traders, dry and cold storage, a dedicated seafood section, parking and electric vehicle charging points.
He said the hub would also provide a more organised platform for farmers, suppliers, traders, retailers, institutional buyers and consumers to interact within the food supply chain.
