Marriage comes with love, responsibility, sacrifice, and commitment. A husband should not be present only in the house; he should also be emotionally, spiritually, and practically involved in the lives of his wife and children.
When a husband continually neglects his responsibilities, it can create loneliness, frustration, insecurity, and division within the family. Providing for a family is important, but a husband’s duties go beyond finances. His family also needs his time, attention, encouragement, protection, guidance, and love.
The Bible teaches:
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
— Ephesians 5:25
A husband is called to love his wife sacrificially, not selfishly.
“Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”
— Colossians 3:19
His leadership should not be based on intimidation or neglect, but on love, kindness, patience, and understanding.
The Bible also emphasizes responsibility toward the family:
“Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith.”
— 1 Timothy 5:8
And fathers are reminded:
“Do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”
— Ephesians 6:4
A family does not only need a husband who brings money home. It needs a husband who comes home with love. Your wife needs your attention, your children need your presence, and your family needs your responsible leadership.
Be present. Be loving. Be responsible. Be a husband and father your family can depend on.
