Wasteful Spending Without Planning for Tomorrow

Many people know how to make money, but not everyone knows how to manage it wisely.

You receive money today and spend it all on things you want, forgetting that tomorrow may bring needs you never expected. There is nothing wrong with enjoying the fruit of your labour, but spending everything today without preparing for tomorrow can turn today’s blessing into tomorrow’s burden.

The Bible teaches us to think ahead:

“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.”
— Proverbs 22:3 (KJV)

Joseph did not consume everything during the years of plenty. He stored provisions because he understood that a season of abundance can be followed by a season of scarcity.

“And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh…”
— Genesis 41:35 (KJV)

Planning for tomorrow is not a lack of faith. Wisdom is knowing how to use today’s blessing to prepare for tomorrow’s responsibilities.

Ask yourself:

If your income stopped today, how long could your savings sustain you?

Don’t let unnecessary spending today create unnecessary suffering tomorrow. Learn to budget. Save. Invest wisely. Give. Provide for your family. And most importantly, ask God for wisdom in managing what He has placed in your hands.

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost…”
— Luke 14:28 (KJV)
