Marriage is supposed to be a partnership built on love, respect, understanding, sacrifice, and mutual responsibility—not simply a means of producing children.
Sadly, some husbands treat their wives as though their primary purpose is to give birth to children. Once a woman becomes a wife and mother, her feelings, dreams, health, and personal needs can sometimes be ignored because the focus becomes having more children.
A wife is not a baby factory. She is a human being, a companion, a partner, and someone who deserves love, respect, care, and consideration.
Having children is a blessing, but children should never become the only measure of a woman’s value in marriage. A healthy marriage requires husband and wife to communicate about family planning, finances, health, responsibilities, and the future of their family.
The Bible reminds husbands that their wives should be loved—not merely valued for what they can produce.
“Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.”
— Colossians 3:19 (KJV)
Love means caring about your wife’s wellbeing, listening to her concerns, supporting her dreams, and considering her feelings when making important family decisions.
The Bible also gives husbands a powerful standard for how they should love their wives:
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”
— Ephesians 5:25 (KJV)
A wife should not be valued only because she gives birth. She should be valued because she is your wife and your life partner.
Children are a blessing, but marriage is bigger than childbirth.
A husband who truly loves his wife should not see her merely as someone who produces children. He should see her as the woman with whom he is building a life, raising a family, facing challenges, sharing responsibilities, and growing old together.
Before asking your wife for another child, ask yourself: Am I loving her, supporting her, protecting her, and sharing the responsibilities of the family?
A strong marriage is not measured only by how many children a couple has. It is also measured by how much love, respect, peace, responsibility, and companionship exist between husband and wife.
