Nigeria is often described as a difficult place to do business. Inflation, unreliable infrastructure, high operating costs, insecurity and other challenges are real—and they affect both local and foreign businesses.
Yet Chinese entrepreneurs and companies continue to enter Nigerian markets, invest in businesses, trade, build factories and pursue opportunities.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians say they are struggling to survive and that the business environment has become too difficult.
That raises an uncomfortable question:
Are some foreigners simply looking harder for opportunities—or are Nigerians being pushed out of opportunities because the cost of doing business has become too high?
It is not enough to say, “Nigeria is hard.”
The bigger question is:
👉 What are others seeing that we are not seeing?
👉 Why are some Nigerians leaving businesses while others continue investing?
👉 What can Nigerians produce instead of importing?
👉 How can Nigerian entrepreneurs compete and benefit from the country’s huge market?
Nigeria’s challenges should not be ignored. But neither should its enormous market, population, resources and demand for goods and services.
💬 YOUR VIEW:
Are Nigerians overlooking opportunities in their own country, or are the challenges genuinely making it harder for Nigerians to compete?
