Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two pastors of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, also known as ‘Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa A Nigeria (EYN) Rev. James Kwayang and Rev. Ishaku Chiwar.
Reverends Kwayang and Chiwar were serving at the local council (LCC) at Mbila-Malibu where they were kidnapped on Sunday around 11:00 pm on Sunday, December 29, 2024, in the Song Local Government Area of the state
Spokesman of the Adamawa Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the abduction in a statement on Monday said police personnel have been deployed to trail the gunmen and rescue the two clergymen.
The Rev. Daniel Mbaya, President of the Church of The Brethren in Nigeria, who confirmed the abductions, called on security operatives to ensure the safe return of the clergymen.
He also urged religious leaders across the country and Nigerians to pray for the safe return of the priests.
“This incident has sent shockwaves throughout the EYN community, and we request your prayers and support during this difficult time,” he said.
The kidnappers were yet to make contact with the church and families of the priests at the time of filing this report.
