Guardian slashes 10-year-old boy’s hands with razor blade for allegedly stealing N600

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a woman named Odeale Fatima for allegedly using razor blade to inflict wounds on a 10-year-old boy (name withheld) for stealing N600.

It was learnt that the incident occurred in the Obada Oko area of the state.

The boy reportedly stole the money to purchase ice cream for his friends.

According to a source, the woman who happens to be child’s guardian, inflicted deep cuts on the boy’s hands to punish him.

The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Monday, adding that the boy attends a private school in the Araromi area of Obada Oko.

Odutola explained that a delegation from the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Obada Oko, led by their coordinator, Olagbegi Moses, at about 11:00 am, came to the station with the child to report the incident.

Upon on the information, the officers arrested the suspect and on questioning, she admitted using a razor blade to inflict the wounds as punishment for alleged stealing.

Odutola said, “On January 13, 2025, at about 11:00 am, a delegation from the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Obada Oko, led by coordinator Olagbegi Moses, came to the station with ten-year-old, a student at Dinamis private school in the Araromi area of Obada oko, who had serious cuts on his hands.

“When questioned, he (child) revealed that his guardian, Odeale Fatimah “f” from the housing area of Obada oko, had caused his injuries.

“She was arrested and admitted to using a razor blade to inflict the wounds as punishment for allegedly stealing six hundred naira to purchase ice cream for his friends”.

Odutola noted that the state commissioner for police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered an immediate investigation into the case, and assured that further updates will be provided soon.
