Bauchi pilgrim dies during prayer on Mount Arafat

Tragedy struck during this year’s Arafat Day observance as a pilgrim from Bauchi State, Abdullahi Adamu, passed away while standing in prayer on the sacred plains of Mount Arafat.

Adamu, a native of Ganjuwa Local Government Area, was part of the Bauchi State delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj.

His death was confirmed by the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, which expressed deep condolences to his family and the people of Ganjuwa.

According to the Board, Adamu died in the midst of religious devotion, participating in one of the most spiritually significant moments of the Hajj pilgrimage.

All necessary arrangements were carried out in line with Islamic rites and Saudi Hajj protocols.

The Board also confirmed it is in touch with his family to provide support and regular updates.

Fellow pilgrims described Adamu as a devout and humble man whose final moments were spent in solemn worship, surrounded by millions of faithful Muslims.

Executive Secretary of the Bauchi Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Abdulrahman Idris, said, “This is a deeply emotional loss, not only for his family but for the entire Bauchi pilgrim community. To die on Arafat Day, in a state of Ihram and prayer, is regarded in Islam as a most honorable and blessed end.”
