Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Nigeria after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly of Heads of State and Government in Luanda, Angola.
During the high-level summit, Nigeria pushed for stronger African-led solutions to conflicts, improved mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution, and urgent action against recurring xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks affecting Africans and other nationals in South Africa.
Nigeria also supported the Luanda Action Plan and advocated sustainable financing for Africa’s peace and security architecture, stronger collective responsibility among AU member states, and greater African ownership of solutions to the continent’s challenges.
VP Shettima has now returned to Abuja, Nigeria, following the conclusion of his diplomatic engagements in Angola.
