Not every act of kindness is completely selfless.
Some people help others, give gifts, offer financial support, or make sacrifices—but later expect something in return. When that expectation is not met, the favour may suddenly be brought up as a reminder of what the person “owes.”
That raises an important question:
If you help someone mainly because you expect repayment later, is it still kindness—or has it become a transaction?
At the same time, relationships can involve genuine reciprocity. Helping each other, showing appreciation, and returning favours can be a normal part of human relationships.
The real issue may be the intention behind the help.
