Police seek public’s help to locate family of two children taken from Taraba and forcibly abandoned in Nasarawa (photos)

The Nasarawa State Police Command is seeking the public assistance to locate the family of two children, aged 8 and 10, who were found wandering near Mararaba Junction.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Ramhan Nansel, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, March 13, 2025, said the siblings identified as Fatima Isah and Halima Isah, revealed that they were taken from Jalingo, Taraba State by an unknown driver and forcibly abandoned in Mararaba.

“The Nasarawa State Police Command wishes to inform the public that on March 12, 2025, at about 1700 hours, a report was received from a resident of Ungwan Gwandara, Mararaba, Karu LGA, stating that two children were found wandering near Mararaba Junction,” the statement read.

“Acting swiftly on this information, police operatives moved to the scene, safely recovered the children, and brought them to the station. Efforts are ongoing to trace their families and reunite them.

“The children, identified as Fatima Isah (female, 10 years old) and Halima Isah (female, 8 years old), revealed during an interview that they were taken from Kasuwan Bera, Jalingo, Taraba State, by an unknown driver and forcibly abandoned in Mararaba.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed urges anyone with relevant information about the children, their family, or the circumstances surrounding their transportation to immediately contact the Divisional Police Officer, Mararaba ‘B’ Division, Sani Abacha Road, on 08037005201, the Divisional Crime Officer 07034260434, or the Police Public Relations Officer 08037461715.”
