President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Musa Kida has revealed the secret behind D’Tigress impressive outing at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The African champions made it to the quarter-final of the women’s basketball event.
D’Tigress defeated heavyweights, Australia and Canada in the group stage, making history as the first African team to make it beyond the first round in his history of the Olympics.
They, however, bowed out in the quarter-final losing to holders United States of America.
Kida said stopping NBBF board members from imposing players on D’Tigress head coach, Rena Wakama played a key role in the team’s successful outing.
“The responsibility is that we have tried to isolate other board members from influencing.
“Board members can suggest, they can bring in names just like anybody else but the ultimate selection of the team is in the hands of the coach and the technical crew,” Kida said in an interview on NTA.
