Kwara NSCDC rescues kidnapped Kogi varsity student (photos)

Operatives of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have rescued a 400-level student of Kogi State University, Anyingba, who was reportedly kidnapped by suspected ritualists.

The 19-year-old English Education undergraduate, Fauziyah Muhammed, was hypnotised and abducted outside the premises of Kogi State University, Anyigba.

Speaking with journalists on Monday, December 2, 2024, the state commandant of the NSCDC, Dr. Umar Muhammed, said that the kidnap victim was discovered by residents of the Ajegunle-Isale community on Egbejila road in Ilorin.

The commandant said that the victim was wandering about the community naked.

He said that Fauziyah was no longer coherent in speech, which he attributed to horrible experiences while with the kidnappers.

“Fauziyah was found wandering in the Egbejila area in Ilorin when concerned neighbours alerted the community leaders, who promptly handed her over to the NSCDC,” the commandant disclosed.

“Upon receiving the victim, we launched an investigation and established that she had been abducted in Kogi State but somehow got stranded in Ilorin.

“We, as a command, have tried to comfort her with clothings as well as brief the governor of her plight,” he said.

The victim has since been reunited with her uncle, Mallam Salihu Aliu, who expressed gratitude to the NSCDC for their swift action.

Speaking to journalists, Fauziyah said she could not recall how she ended up in Kwara State.

“One of the books I carried dropped and as I made to pick it up, I lost consciousness,” she said.
