Katsina Govt and NAPTIP rescue 13-year-old girl from human trafficker (photos)

The Katsina State Government, in collaboration with NAPTIP and the Ministry of Women Affairs, has rescued 13-year-old Rahama Sanusi from a suspected human trafficker.

While receiving the girl on Tuesday, February 26, 2025, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hadiza Yar’adua, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with UNICEF, NAPTIP, and other agencies to combat child trafficking and the issue of out-of-school children.

She emphasized the importance of parental responsibility, urging parents not to overly depend on relatives for child upbringing.

Rahama had been in Kano under the care of her late mother’s sister before being trafficked to Benue State.

Her father, Sanusi Ahmed, revealed that he had made several unsuccessful attempts to bring her home before the abduction.

He expressed gratitude to NAPTIP and the state government for their swift intervention.

Authorities have pledged to ensure justice for the victim while strengthening measures to protect vulnerable children in the state.
