“Tell him we will never forget this goodwill he has done.”

A powerful statement of appreciation has emerged following claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu responded to a request for assistance despite the speaker being a member of the opposition.

According to the statement, the President, through the National Security Adviser, deployed a high-powered military contingent to confront those allegedly threatening peace and security in the affected area. The speaker further claimed that more than 100,000 people who had been displaced or forced away from their communities were eventually able to return home.

The statement highlights a significant message about national security, political cooperation, peacebuilding and leadership beyond party lines.

Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar recently made headlines after urging Nigerians to accept any money offered to them by members of the party in power, suggesting that such money could be coming from public funds.

But his statement raises an important question: Is Atiku now speaking from the position of an anti-corruption advocate?

For many Nigerians, this brings back memories of the political history between Atiku Abubakar and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, including Obasanjo’s well-documented criticisms of his former vice president and allegations of corruption that have surrounded their political relationship.

So, is this a case of political experience, changing perspectives, or simply politics as usual?

In this video, we take a closer look at Atiku’s recent statement, the controversies surrounding his political past, and the bigger question of corruption, accountability and political hypocrisy in Nigeria.

What do you think?
Is Atiku right to make this argument, or should his own political history be part of the conversation?
