Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with a case of culpable homicide and suspected armed robbery in Gwaram Town, Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesman, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to him, the suspects were arrested following an investigation into a report lodged at the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters on March 7, 2026.
He said one of the suspects, identified as Muhammad Umar, popularly known as “Jijji,” aged 25, was apprehended on June 19, 2026, while in possession of a motorcycle belonging to the deceased victim.
The police spokesperson stated that during interrogation, Umar allegedly confessed to the crime and identified two other accomplices.
“Acting on the report made at Alkaleri Division on March 7, 2026, one of the suspects, Alhaji Muhammad Umar, alias ‘Jijji’, aged 25, was arrested on June 19, 2026, while in possession of a motorcycle belonging to the deceased victim.
“During interrogation, ‘Jijji’ mentioned two other accomplices in connection with the crime. In a swift follow-up operation, detectives also arrested Usman M. Gidado, 45, and Danladi Yakubu, alias ‘Pagaj’, 35, all of Gwaram Town in Alkaleri Local Government Area, where the offence was committed,” the statement read.
Habib added that the motorcycle belonging to the deceased was recovered as an exhibit during the operation.
He further disclosed that the suspects, alongside the recovered motorcycle, had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
“Consequently, all three suspects and the recovered exhibit have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet and thorough investigation, after which they will be charged to court,” he said.
The spokesman also revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their diligence and professionalism.
He reassured residents of the state of the command’s commitment to combating violent crime and ensuring justice for victims.
“The Bauchi State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to fighting violent crime and ensuring justice for victims at all times,” the commissioner said.
