Lagos CP Orders Probe Of Pastor Chris Okafor Over Sex Scandal Allegations

Published

on

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to probe multiple sexual misconduct allegations levelled against Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor.

The directive followed public outrage triggered by viral allegations against the Pastor circulating on social media in recent days.

It was reported that the cleric stepped aside from pastoral duties on New Year’s Day as the allegations intensified, with several women, including Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, making accusations against him.

Pastor Okafor had last Sunday publicly apologised to Ogala during a church service, where he knelt on the pulpit, admitted to past “mistakes,” and asked for forgiveness.

The controversy comes shortly after the cleric’s wedding to a new bride, identified simply as Pearl, on December 16, 2025. The ceremony was attended by prominent clerics.

Earlier, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Adebisi, told journalists that the police could not arrest the pastor because no formal petition had been filed by any of the alleged victims.

However, following renewed inquiries, Adebisi on Sunday confirmed that CP Jimoh had ordered the SCID to invite the cleric for questioning and also summon the alleged victims.

“The CP has directed the SCID to invite the pastor for investigation, despite the fact that no one has formally come forward to report,” the Lagos PPRO said.

She added that witnesses would also be invited to provide statements to aid the investigation.

Adebisi further disclosed that she had, on her own initiative, contacted one of the YouTubers who interviewed the alleged victims to obtain direct links to the witnesses.

The allegations first surfaced on December 14 when Doris Ogala posted emotional videos on Instagram, accusing the pastor of engaging in a sexual relationship with her, allegedly from 2017 for nine years.

She claimed the cleric repeatedly promised her marriage before marrying another woman in December 2025.

Ogala also alleged that Okafor shared her explicit photos and videos, contributed to the breakdown of her previous marriage, and caused her emotional distress and financial losses.

The actress shared bedroom photos and screenshots of conversations, as well as videos alleging the pastor sent her $10,000 to retract her claims and accuse a rival pastor of orchestrating the scandal.

She later demanded N1 billion in damages through a legal notice filed by her lawyers, alleging threats and intimidation following her arrest and detention by the police.

As the controversy widened, other women, including Okafor’s former wife, Bessem Okafor, also accused him of sexual misconduct, manipulation, infidelity, deception, and physical assault.

However, some members of the church have dismissed the allegations, describing them as attempts to extort money from their “man of God.”
