Liars don’t last in ministry – Oyedepo warns pastors

Published

on

The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has warned pastors against lying in a bid to sustain or promote their ministries.

Speaking at the third service held at the church’s international headquarters, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, on Sunday during the final day of the 21-day fasting and prayer programme, Oyedepo said liars do not last in ministries.

“You won’t last in the ministry telling lies. I stand before God, I will never tell lies about what God did not do just to impress anyone,” he said.

The cleric emphasised the importance of holding firmly to the truth of the Scriptures and giving glory to God alone, noting that such commitment is what enables ministers to attain enviable heights.

He equally advised believers to keep their love for Jesus alive, saying total dependence on God guarantees victory over life’s challenges.

The bishop further shared a personal testimony, recalling how a close associate in Ile-Ife who was afflicted with insanity was restored after Scripture was read to him.

He affirmed his confidence in divine protection, declaring that no evil plan against him would succeed.

When Negativity Becomes a Lifestyle: Why Some People Feel Better by Putting Others Down

Published

on

Some people don’t know how to feel good about themselves unless they are making somebody else feel bad.

It is one of the most uncomfortable realities of human relationships.

Instead of celebrating someone’s progress, they look for something to criticize.

Instead of encouraging someone who is struggling, they remind them of their failures.

Instead of being happy when someone succeeds, they search for reasons to minimize that success.

And sometimes, the negativity becomes a pattern.

They criticize your appearance.
They mock your achievements.
They question your choices.
They gossip about you.
They turn almost every conversation into an opportunity to put someone down.

But here is the bigger question:

What makes a person feel powerful by making another person feel small?

Putting others down does not automatically make someone stronger, wiser, richer, or more successful. In many cases, it simply creates a cycle of negativity that damages relationships and destroys trust.

A confident person can see another person succeed without feeling threatened.

A mature person can disagree without resorting to insults.

And a supportive person can correct you without constantly trying to humiliate you.

The question everyone should ask

Not every criticism is hatred. Sometimes people genuinely point out our mistakes because they want us to improve.

But there is a difference between constructive criticism and constant negativity.

Constructive criticism focuses on the problem.

Constant negativity often focuses on destroying the person.

That distinction matters.

So, before you allow someone’s words to define your worth, ask yourself:

Is this person trying to help me become better—or do they simply enjoy seeing me struggle?

And perhaps we should also look inward.

Have you ever caught yourself putting someone else down just to feel better about yourself?

👇🏾 LET’S TALK:

Have you ever had to distance yourself from a negative person because their constant criticism was affecting your peace?

IF YOU DON’T KNOW YOUR HISTORY, DON’T BE SURPRISED WHEN SOMEONE ELSE DEFINES IT FOR YOU.

Published

on

History is not something we should simply inherit without questioning.

Too many people accept what they were taught as children without ever asking:

**Who wrote this history?**
**What sources were used?**
**What was left out?**
**And what evidence supports the story?**

Knowing your history does not mean believing every alternative narrative you hear. It means having the courage to **research, compare sources, examine evidence, and ask difficult questions.**

Ancient civilizations. African kingdoms. Colonialism. Religion. Culture. Migration. Resistance. Identity.

These subjects deserve serious research—not blind acceptance.

📚 **Read. Research. Question. Verify.**

Because when you don’t take the time to understand your own past, other people can easily become the authors of your identity.

🔥 **KNOW YOUR HISTORY BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE TELLS YOU WHO YOU ARE.**

👇 **LET’S DEBATE:**

**What is one historical fact you were taught growing up that you later discovered was more complicated than you thought?**

YOU MAY BE RICH… BUT THAT DOESN’T NECESSARILY MEAN YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL!

Published

on

Let that statement offend you if it needs to.

Some people think success means parking expensive cars outside a massive mansion, wearing designer clothes and having billions sitting in a bank account.

But there is a question many wealthy people don’t want to answer:

HOW MANY LIVES HAVE YOU ACTUALLY CHANGED?

If you have enormous wealth but have never helped anyone become financially independent, created opportunities for struggling people, supported education, built businesses that employ others, or lifted families out of poverty…

What exactly does your wealth mean beyond your own comfort?

🚘 Your cars can impress people.
🏠 Your houses can impress people.
💰 Your bank balance can impress people.

But impact is different.

A person who uses their resources to help 100 people build better lives may leave behind a legacy that money alone cannot buy.

And here’s the uncomfortable part:

When you die, you cannot take your cars with you.
You cannot take your houses with you.
You cannot take your billions with you.

What remains is the impact of your life.

🔥 SO LET’S DEBATE:

Is a person truly successful simply because they are extremely wealthy—or should success also be measured by the number of lives they positively changed?

👇 AGREE OR DISAGREE? Don’t just comment “YES” or “NO”—explain your position.
