The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) said it dismantled a fraudulent network marketing ring linked to the QNET/IGNITE group, arrested 12 suspects, including the alleged syndicate leader, and rescued two victims in coordinated operations across Lagos State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 4th August, the NIS Public Relations Officer, AS Akinlabi, said the arrests followed actionable intelligence on trafficking syndicates operating in both states.
According to the statement, one Ouattara Adama, a Burkinabe national identified as the alleged leader of the QNET/IGNITE syndicate, was arrested alongside 11 other suspected facilitators. The facilitators comprise eight Liberians and three Cameroonians.
The operation also led to the rescue of two Liberian nationals who were identified as victims of the syndicate’s illegal activities.

“Accordingly, the twelve (12) suspects and the two (2) victims have been transferred to the Service Headquarters for further investigation and necessary legal action,” Mr Akinlabi stated.

The NIS said the QNET/IGNITE network is a transnational organised criminal syndicate involved in fraudulent employment and business schemes linked to irregular migration.
It urged members of the public to verify all offers of employment, education, business, and migration through appropriate channels before making financial commitments or embarking on international travel.
“The arrest of the syndicate leader and other facilitators demonstrates Nigeria Immigration Service’s commitment to intelligence-driven Border Management,” the statement said.
It added that the operation “underscores the Service’s resolve to rid the country of all forms of irregular migration and transnational organised crimes, in tandem with the renewed hope agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.”
The service further said that investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network and possible victims across the country.

A Nigerian woman living in Ghana has reportedly been arrested for allegedly selling her child for GH¢2,000 (N232,000).
Residents claim they apprehended the woman and questioned her over the child’s whereabouts after suspecting she had sold the child.
Some also alleged she was battling substance abuse, though this has not been independently verified.
A resident also claimed that the Nigerian woman came to her area to sell her child for 500 cedis but ran away when they threatened to report her to social welfare.

PHOTOS: Troops arrest two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers in Borno, recover terrorists’ gate pass
Troops of Sector 3, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK)/Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), have arrested two suspected logistics suppliers to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during an intelligence-led operation in Monguno, Borno State.
Intelligence sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the suspects were apprehended at about 4:30 p.m. on August 3, 2026 at the C-19 checkpoint in Monguno following sustained surveillance and intensified operations aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics networks.
The suspects were identified as Bukar Kaka Modu, 30, and Abubakar Musa, 30.
According to the sources, the suspects allegedly confessed during preliminary interrogation that they were transporting food items and other supplies to ISWAP fighters in Kwatan Dowoshi Village in Kukawa Local Government Area.
Items recovered from them included 11 cartons of biscuits, 192 sachets of biscuits, one carton of Peak milk, 10 mudu of sugar, nine bars of Viva soap, six headlamps, two bags of garri, 16 rolls of sachet garri, three packs of lighters, two Tecno button phones, one assault knife, one jazz belt, four jazz beads, six packs of herbal medicine, and N6,600 cash, among other sundry items.
Security sources said troops also recovered an alleged ISWAP-issued gate pass, believed to have been used to facilitate access to terrorist-controlled locations.
The suspects and the recovered exhibits have been taken into custody at the Headquarters of Sector 3 for further investigation and necessary action.
The latest arrest is part of ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to dismantle ISWAP’s logistics and supply networks, which security authorities consider critical to sustaining the terrorist group’s operations in the Lake Chad region.
