Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has made an emotional appeal for financial assistance as she battles an undisclosed illness, revealing that she has been hospitalised for three weeks and is preparing to undergo three surgeries.

The actress shared the heartfelt video on her Instagram page on Thursday, where she appeared from her hospital bed, visibly emotional as she appealed to fans, friends and family members not to abandon her during the difficult period.

Addressing her supporters, Nwosu explained why she had been absent from public view in recent weeks.

“My people, my fans and my family, I know that you’ve not seen me in circulation for some time. I’ve been hospitalized now for three weeks. Please, the thing has gone beyond my control. I need your help, don’t let me die.”

The veteran actress said she remained hopeful that she would overcome the health challenge but pleaded for support as she continued to endure severe pain.

“I know that you people never forsake me and I know that God will always see me through, but I’m begging you, my friends and family, don’t let me die because I am going through a lot as in pain.”

Nwosu also urged anyone willing to assist to contact her management team, concluding her appeal with a prayer.

“My sickness will never be anybody’s portion. In Jesus’ name, thank you.”

Although the actress did not disclose the nature of her illness, she revealed in an earlier appeal that she requires three surgeries, with the procedures expected to cost about ₦30 million

Reflecting on her absence, the actress admitted she left without informing her fans and said she owed them an apology.

“I left the country many years ago because of my children, and I would do it over and over again if I had to. I think I need to apologise for leaving without letting my fans know, but mama duty called,” she said.

Explaining the reason behind her decision, Wright said her children were living abroad at the time, and she believed they needed their mother more than she needed her acting career.

“My children were abroad, and we all know how difficult it can be for boys to be without a mother’s love. So, I was ready to leave everything behind for them because they are my future,” she explained.

Wright returned to the screen in January 2025 with her role in Something About the Briggs, marking her comeback after years away from the industry.

The actress also spoke about reviving Omotara Johnson, her 2008 film, saying the decision was driven by persistent requests from fans.

“My fans asked for the sequel to Omotara Johnson. They wanted it, so I decided to bring it back,” she added.

Wright revealed that she deliberately kept her return to acting under wraps until filming had been completed.

“I didn’t tell anybody I was coming back. A lot of people didn’t know I was shooting because I kept everything to myself. I’ve learnt that when you keep things close to your heart, they manifest better, and that really worked for me.

“…It’s the return of Omotara Johnson and the return of Bukky Wright, and I’m here to stay,” she said.

Nollywood actress Adebimpe Oyebade, better known as Mo Bimpe, has threatened legal action over a report alleging paternity fraud involving one of her triplets.

An X user, @iam_Mardiyyah, claimed that Mo Bimpe’s husband, actor Lateef Adedimeji, had filed for divorce over the paternity of their newly born triplets after a general hospital rejected his blood donation for one of the babies.

The user wrote: “Popular Nigerian actor Lateef Adedimeji has filed for divorce from his wife after the Ilorin General Hospital rejected his blood donation for one of the triplets. The doctor claimed their blood groups do not match, and this triggered a paternity confirmation, which led the 40-year-old actor to carry out a DNA test on the children. The result shows that Lateef is not the biological father of the kids.”

Reacting to the post on her Instagram Story on Tuesday, the actress, who tagged the report as fake, also threatened legal action against online trolls.

While warning the public not to beg her, she reshared the post and wrote: “I don’t want to hear justice for whatever your stupid name is by the time I am ready for you! You silly trolls have constantly trolled me on these platforms for years & I’ve been quiet, but what I wouldn’t take is you bringing your stupidity to my children!!! Be warned! I won’t hesitate to take the right action if need be.

“It’s the nerve to post fake/AI pictures together with fabricated lies for me! Such effrontery!” she wrote.
