PHOTOS: Police bust cross-border kidnap syndicate, arrest suspect, recover AK-47 rifles and 80 rounds of live ammunition in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has busted a cross-border kidnap syndicate and arrested one suspect, Adamu Adamu.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

According to the PPRO, operatives of Operation Hattara, led by CSP Ali Madaka, successfully smashed the syndicate and recovered two AK-47 rifles and 80 rounds of live ammunition.

He explained that the suspect was linked to a series of kidnappings for ransom carried out within Nigeria and the Republic of Cameroon.

During interrogation, Adamu confessed to being part of a larger syndicate that had been operating across the borders of both countries.

“On 4th October, 2025, at about 1700hrs, operatives of Operation Hattara led by CSP Ali Madaki, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Adamu Adamu ‘m’, aged 30 years, an indigene of Song Local Government Area, Adamawa State, and presently residing at Jauro Jatau Quarters, Akko L.G.A., Gombe State, in connection with series of kidnappings for ransom within Nigeria and the Republic of Cameroon,” the statement read.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to his syndicate’s involvement in several kidnapping operations and further revealed that their arms cache was concealed in a mountainous area near Wuro Biriji Village, Song L.G.A., Adamawa State.

“A follow up operations, on 5th October, 2025, by the Command operatives to the said location, led to the recovery of the following exhibits: two AK-47 rifles with breach numbers 05316 and 3553, eighty (80) rounds of live ammunition, seven (7) AK-47 magazines, chain, padlocks, knife and four small bags.

“The suspect is currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend his fleeing syndicate and dismantle the entire kidnapping network.

“Further developments will be communicated in due course.”

PHOTOS: Seven Bandits Captured In Kwara by Vigilantes

Local vigilantes in Lade, a community within the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, have successfully apprehended seven suspected bandits in a well-coordinated operation.

According to reports from local vigilantes on Sunday, October 10, three of the suspects were apprehended while attempting to purchase fuel in Lade, while four others were caught hiding with concealed firearms in nearby villages.

The arrested suspects have since been transferred to Patigi for further investigation and necessary action.

Residents of the area have commended the vigilance group for their bravery and renewed commitment to securing the community.

Lagos Re-Arraigns Convicted Kidnapper Evans Over Alleged Murder of Police Officers

Evans appeared in court alongside his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, where they were charged with a five-count information bordering on murder.

Convicted billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans has been re-arraigned before the Lagos High Court in Ikeja over the alleged murder of two police officers.

He was re-arraigned by the Lagos State Government on Monday.

Evans appeared in court alongside his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, where they were charged with a five-count information bordering on murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them before Justice A.O. Ogala.

Evans, who gained notoriety for his high-profile kidnapping operations, is currently standing trial in five separate criminal cases involving kidnapping and murder.

He has already been convicted in two of those cases.

The re-arraignment comes just a few days after President Bola Tinubu granted presidential clemency to some convicted criminals across the country.

Soldier k!lls his wife and commits su!cide at barracks in Niger State — Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the d3ath of a soldier, Lance Corporal Akenleye Femi, who allegedly k!lled his wife and later committed su!cide at Wawa Cantonment in Niger State.

Captain Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, made this known in a press statement on 12 October 2025.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on October 11, 2025 at the 221 Battalion quarters within the cantonment.

The statement said the bodies of the soldier and his wife were found in their apartment at Block 15, Room 24, Corporals and Below Quarters.

“The 22 Armourd Brigade, Nigerian Army (NA), is aware of the news in respect of its personnel, Lance Corporal Akenleye Femi, serving at 221 Battalion, Wawa Cantonment who is suspected to have k!lled his wife and committed su!cide,” the statement read.

“The tragic incident which occurred on 11 October 2025 at Wawa Cantonment, Niger State, has caused a tensed atmosphere, leaving the barracks residents in shock as to the circumstances that could have led to such unfortunate incident.

“Lance Corporal Femi and his wife were suddenly found d3ad in their apartment at Block 15, Room 24, Corporals and Below Quarters, Wawa Cantonment. Preliminary investigation revealed that the soldier was on duty within the Cantonment, and had sought permission from his superior to attend to personal needs and return to duty. This followed the discovery of the d3ad bodies lying in their apartment.

“The remains of the deceased have been preserved, while an in-depth investigation has since commenced to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

“The NA deeply regrets this, while it commiserates with the family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased over the painful loss. The army also prays for the peaceful repose of their souls.

“The Commander 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, assures the general public that the circumstances that led to the sad incident will be thoroughly investigated, and the outcome relayed to the general public accordingly.

“The NA anticipates maximum understanding and cooperation of the public as always, assuring that the outcome of the investigation will not only be made public, rather, further scrutinised, and measures put in place to avoid future occurrences.”
