PHOTOS & VIDEO: Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, orders arrest and sanctioning of airline officials who released video containing the indecent exposure of Ibom air unruly passenger
Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, has ordered the arrest and sanctioning of airport officials who released video containing the indecent exposure of Ibom air unruly passenger, Comfort Emmanson.
Earlier today, a video of Emmanson being dragged out of the aircraft made the rounds on social media. The trending video showed the moment her top was ripped off, exposing her boobs.
In a statement released this evening, Keyamo said while her actions stand condemned, the release of the video containing indecent exposure of Ms Emmanson is unacceptable. He mentioned that he has directed that whoever released the distasteful video amongst the staff should be singled out and adequately sanctioned.
His statement reads
”ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: READING THE RIOT ACT ON AVIATION SAFETY AND SECURITY IN REFERENCE TO THE CASE OF UNRULY MS. COMFORT BOB ON IBOM AIRLINE AND RELATED INCIDENTS
Earlier today, we again woke up to viral videos of a female passenger on Ibom Airline (now identified as Ms. Comfort Emmanson or Comfort Bob) who went berserk and physically assaulted both the flight crew and the ground staff. The incident took place yesterday, August 10, 2025 on Ibom Airline Flight No. Q153 from Uyo to Lagos at about 14:54 hours. Ibom Airline has since issued a statement to provide some context to the effect that the whole unfortunate incident arose because of the refusal of the passenger to switch off her phone during take off as required by extant International Civil Aviation Regulations.
Consequently, in the last few hours, I have been speaking with the Commissioner of Police of the Airport Police Command, the DG of the NCAA and his team, the MD of FAAN and her team, the COO of Ibom Air and his team about the incident.
Apart from the indefinite flight ban imposed on the said unruly passenger (both local and international)
by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) the Police has promptly arraigned her this morning at the Ikeja Magistrates Court for criminal offences and remanded her at Kirikiri Prisons as she could not provide adequate sureties in court. I have attached the Charge Sheet and Remand Order for clarity.
We also note the scuffle that took place between the unruly passenger and ground personnel before she was eventually subdued. This was because of her uncooperative attitude. Whilst we support the filming of her recalcitrant behaviour as evidence to prosecute her, what is DEPLORABLE is to release such evidence containing indecent exposure to the public to ridicule her. That is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE to us. We will not fold our arms and tolerate the debasing of womanhood. I have therefore directed that whoever RELEASED that part of the video containing the indecent exposure amongst the staff should be singled out and adequately sanctioned.
I have also directed that the airlines must continue to train and retrain their staff in public relations and how to deal with potentially explosive situations in order to diffuse them promptly or nip them in the bud, except when it becomes inevitable. I have also directed a joint security meeting between relevant agencies next week for better coordination of security measures in situations like this or similar ones we witnessed recently.
For genuinely aggrieved passengers, there are clearly laid-down remedies to address grievances. The Consumer Protection Directorate of the NCAA has consistently advertised these remedies and there is no point trying to take the laws into one’s hands that may lead to dire consequences.
We will continue to apply equal sanctions available to us in Aviation on any such erring passengers, that is lengthy flight bans and report the matters to other law-enforcement agencies to do their bit within their powers.”
United States President, Donald Trump, has shared his thoughts on why he has faced repeated assassination threats.
It was reports that he spoke while reacting to a shooting incident that disrupted a media event in Washington.
The incident happened on April 25, 2026, during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner held at the Washington Hilton. A gunman caused panic at the gathering, forcing security to act quickly and bringing the event to an abrupt halt.
Speaking after the situation was brought under control, Trump said he believes people who make great changes often become targets.
He linked the attack to his time in office, saying his actions and decisions have affected the country in ways that not everyone supports. He also compared such situations to past events involving well-known leaders who were attacked because of their influence.
The president referred to his past experience, including surviving an earlier assassination attempt at a campaign rally in 2024. He said, despite the risks attached to his position, he continues to live his life without fear and does not see himself as someone shaken by such threats.
He said, “I’ve studied assassinations. I must tell you the most impactful people, the people that do the most… they’re the ones that they go after. I hate to say I’m honoured by that, but I’ve done a lot. We’ve changed this country, and there are a lot of people that are not happy about that. I lead a pretty normal life, considering, you know, it’s a dangerous life. To be honest, I’m not a basket case. A tremendous amount of love and coming together. I was ready to give the most inappropriate speech ever made.”
Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for the role he played during the period he was placed under house arrest in 1995.
It was reports that the former Nigerian leader made this known in an interview with News Central, where he spoke about the difficult time he faced while being held under restriction during the military era. The development dates back to 1995 when Obasanjo was detained under the regime of Sani Abacha.
Obasanjo explained that during that period, a number of individuals stood by him and helped ensure his safety despite the tense situation. Among those he mentioned was the current police boss, whom he credited as one of the people who played a part in keeping him alive while he was under house arrest.
He said the experience remained one of the toughest moments in his life and added that he has not forgotten those who showed him care and support at the time. According to him, it was necessary to openly appreciate such efforts, as people who stand by others in difficult times should be remembered.
He said, “Current IGP, I have to in a special way acknowledge you because maybe the reason I am alive today is because you are one of those who kept me alive when I was under house arrest.”
Beyond his appreciation, the former president also spoke on the country’s security situation. He called for the creation of state police, saying it could help address the rising security concerns across Nigeria.
Obasanjo explained that policing at the state level would allow officers to better understand their local environment and respond more quickly to threats. He added that such a system would help tackle crimes early before they grow into wider problems.
He maintained that Nigeria needs practical steps to deal with insecurity and insisted that state police remains one of the options that could strengthen law enforcement across the country.
