Borno State Police Command said its Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in a stop-and-search operation in Maiduguri, intercepted two suspects in possession of 25 mobile phones of various models.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the suspects upon interrogation confessed to snatching the phones from their owners in communities and villages along Borno-Adamawa State border.
“The suspects have confessed to the crime and would be charged to court for prosecution after investigation.
“Efforts are currently underway to reunite the recovered phones with their rightful owners”, he said.
The Command through its PPRO reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety, particularly during the upcoming Yuletide season.
It advised members of the public to remain mindful and vigilant of their surroundings, and report suspicious activities within their domain.
