FCT police arrest notorious kidnap kingpins, recover firearms and N7.4m cash

Operatives of the FCT Police Command have arrested two notorious kidnapping kingpins: Masud Abdullahi, ‘m’, of Karu LGA, Nasarawa State (the gang leader), and Muhammad Tahir, ‘m’, of Jos, Plateau State, following a counter-kidnapping operation.

A statement from the command’s spokesperson, CSP Josephine Adeh says the arrest followed a report received on 16th August 2025 at approximately 12:05 a.m., that a kidnapping syndicate had invaded an estate in Karu, Abuja. The armed assailants forcefully broke into the home of one Barrister Henry Chichi and abducted him to an unknown location. Adeh stated that upon receiving the report, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit immediately swung into action, mounting intense pressure on the kidnappers, which eventually led to the safe release of the victim on 17th August 2025 at about 9:05 p.m.

‘’In a follow up operation, in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command, the assailants were tracked and intercepted along the Guraku axis of the Nasarawa – FCT Highway after their operational vehicle, a red Opel Vectra with registration number BLD 566 AT, lost control. While some of the gang members escaped, the gang leader, Masud Abdullahi, and his associate, Muhammad Tahir, were arrested.

The suspects later led police operatives to their hideout in Karshi Forest, Nasarawa State, where one more gang member, identified as Kabiru Jibril (22 years), was arrested. Exhibits recovered from the hideout include: N7.4 million cash, Three AK-47 rifles with magazines, One G3 rifle with magazine, Sixteen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, One Tecno handset.”

He further stated that the state Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Ajao S. Adewale, commended the courage and professionalism of the operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. He further assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a notorious kidnap kingpin, Mohammed Bammi a.k.a. “Zomo” in Doma Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, August 24, 2025 said the suspect is responsible for multiple kidnappings and robberies across Doma LGA.

According to the PPRO, the suspect attempted to stab the police officers but was overpowered and arrested.

Zomo led detectives to their hideout where arms, ammunition, and NSCDC uniforms were recovered.

“The relentless onslaught against criminals in Nasarawa State has yielded another major breakthrough, as operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Doma Division have arrested a dreaded armed robbery and kidnap kingpin, Mohammed Bammi a.k.a. “Zomo” (male), of Yelwa village, responsible for multiple kidnappings and robberies across Doma Local Government Area and its environs,” the statement read.

The suspect, who narrowly escaped arrest last month when his gang members were apprehended, finally ran out of luck. During a clearance operation at Doka forest, eagle-eyed operatives spotted him.

“In a desperate bid to evade capture, he pulled a knife to attack the officers but was swiftly overpowered and arrested.

“Upon interrogation, Zomo led detectives to their hideout at Alagye village, Doma, where the following dangerous exhibits were recovered: one pump-action rifle (Breech No. P331551), one locally made AK-47 rifle with magazine, two live ammunition and five cartridges, one knife and a rope, two Tecno handsets and a pair of NSCDC uniforms

In a separate sting operation, based on credible intelligence, undercover operatives attached to Awe Area Command stormed Gidan Taku village, Wuse Chiefdom, Awe LGA, and arrested five suspected members of a notorious 10-man kidnapping syndicate.

The suspects include: Michael Ato (m), Richard Ato (m), Alom Bernard (m), Hangior Ato (m) and Jacob Hunde a.k.a. Okocha (m).

Investigations revealed that the syndicate masterminded the kidnapping of Blessing John (f), of Gidan Makaranta village, Wuse.

Two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and one live ammunition were recovered from them.

Further investigation uncovered that in April 2024, the same gang abducted the victim’s husband, John Ada Kuje (m), collecting ransom before releasing him.

The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, has commended the gallant officers for their courage and professionalism. He charged them to intensify the heat on criminals until the state is completely free of kidnappers and armed robbers.

All arrested suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and prosecution.

PHOTOS: Man st@bs cousin after accusing him of having affair with his wife

A man st@bbed his cousin with a screwdriver after accusing him of having an affair with his wife in South Africa.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Members of the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to Pricklepear Road in Waterloo – KwaZulu Natal at approximately 04:37.

Upon arrival, Reaction Officers discovered a 35-year-old man bleeding from a stab wound to his hand.

According to the victim, he was in the company of his family consuming alcohol, when his cousin accused him of sleeping with his wife.

An argument ensued and escalated into a physical altercation.

During the confrontation, the cousin drew a screwdriver and st@bbed the victim on his right hand.

All parties involved were heavily intoxicated.

His cousin fled the scene following the attack.

The injured male was transported privately to a medical facility.

GRAPHIC PHOTOS: Troops eliminate top Boko Haram commanders, recover arms and ammunition in Borno

In furtherance of the counter insurgency operations across the North East theatre of operations, the ground troops and air component of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have neutralized 9 Boko Haram terrorists, including 2 top commanders in Borno State.

The Nigerian Army in a brief statement on Saturday, said the commanders were neutralised in a foiled attacks on Bita and Wulgo in Borno State on 21 and 22 August 2025.

“The top commanders identified as Abu Nazir (Munzir of Juye) and Abu Fatima (Munzir of Koloram), were eliminated during a fierce gun battle at Wulgo,” the statement read.

“Troops during the operations, recovered AKA-47 rifles, a catche of ammunition and 6 motorcycles belonging to the insurgents.

“The military high command has lauded troops for the feat and urged them to sustain the offensives in the face of daunting challenges.”
