GRAPHIC PHOTOS: Troops neutralize 9 terrorists and recover N5m ransom money in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralized 9 terrorists during fighting patrols and recovered about N5m ransom money at Magumeri and Gajiram general areas of Borno State.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, disclosed this in a statement on 11 October, 2025 said troops also rescued two kidnapped victims, Modu Kinnami and Bukar.

The rescued hostages revealed that the Boko Haram terrorists had demanded a ransom of N2m and two new button phones for the release of their captive brother.

“In continuation of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) conducted a successful fighting patrol in response to credible intelligence on the movement of Boko Haram terrorists around Goni Dunari in Magumeri LGA of Borno State on 10 October 2025,” the statement read.

“The terrorists, reportedly moving on 2 vehicles and 24 foot fighters, were observed setting houses ablaze and terrorizing locals. Acting swiftly, own troops launched an aggressive fighting patrol to intercept the threat.

“As troops advanced towards the objective, the terrorists attempted to flee towards Damjiyakiri village. Vehicle-borne fighters dispersed to an unknown location, while foot fighters were pursued over a distance of approximately 92 km.

“After about 4 hours of tactical pursuit, troops established contact with the fleeing terrorists. A frontal attack was immediately launched, and troops engaged the terrorists with a heavy barrage of fire, resulting in the neutralization of 5 terrorists, while the remaining 19 dispersed in disarray. Some were wounded as blood trails were observed at the contact scene.”

Items recovered from the engagement include: 1 x AK-47 rifle (Reg. No. 06798), 5 x Magazines (3 empty, 2 loaded), 31 x 7.62mm rounds, 1 x Itel mobile phone and 1 x Dagger.

Notably, no casualties or equipment losses were recorded by OPHK troops during the operation.

In a similar development along the Gajiram – Bolori – Mile 40 – Gajiganna axis, troops mounted on motorcycles, engaged Boko Haram fighters near Zundur village.

“During the firefight, 4 terrorists were neutralized, while others dispersed into surrounding bush. Troops also successfully rescued Mr. Modu Kinnami (55 years old) and Mr. Bukar (57 years old), both from Guzamala, along with a sack containing Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N750,000).

“Preliminary investigations revealed that Boko Haram fighters had demanded a ransom of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) and 2 new Tecno button phones for the release of the captives brother.”

Troops recovered the following items from the terrorists: 1 x Blue pickup vehicle (Reg No: GUB 327 XA), 2 x New Tecno button phones, 1 x Jerrycan containing 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and a total sum of Four Million, Three Hundred and Fifty-Five Thousand Naira (N4,355,000)

“Further operations are ongoing in all fronts to maintain pressure on the terrorists and deny them freedom of movement,” the statement added.

PHOTOS: Pregnant widow banished from Benue community over alleged shoplifting

A heavily pregnant widow accused of shoplifting has been banished from Ugbema community in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was gathered that community elders reportedly ordered the expulsion of the woman who recently lost her husband.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman had allegedly been stealing small items from shops to feed herself, her young son, and her unborn baby.

Her luck ran out on Saturday, October 10, 2025 when local youths apprehended her and subjected her to public punishment under the scorching sun.

Sources claim that community elders later directed the youths to escort her out of the area as punishment for her actions.

Many residents have condemned the action, stressing that the woman needs assistance, not humiliation, given her condition.

PHOTOS: Nigerian Army troops rescued kidnapped mother, 3-year-old son and one other in Kwara

Troops of 2 Division/Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have sustained aggressive operations against bandits in Kwara State, leading to the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims at different locations within the Babanla Forest.

The Nigerian Army in a statement said troops rescued the victims on Saturday, 11 October 2025.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops deployed at the Patrol Base Babanla swiftly mobilised to a suspected bandit hideout and rescued Mrs Oluwabusayo Taiwo, aged 25, and her 3-year-old son, Taiwo Irayomide, who were among the victims abducted at Oke-Ode on 28 September 2025.

The rescued victims are currently receiving first aid treatment at the Patrol Base sick bay and will be reunited with their family members in due course.

In a similar development, troops while on routine patrol along a suspected bandit route, also rescued Mr Mohammadu Sani Mai Shayi, a 40 years old local tea seller from Garkarima.

The bandits fled upon sighting the patrol team, abandoning the victim, who was found in a pool of blood.

Troops recovered one dane gun and a cutlass from the scene. The victim is currently receiving medical attention at the Patrol Base sick bay.

The Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, commended the troops for their swift response and professionalism, while reaffirming that the Nigerian Army will remain committed towards ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and will continue to intensify operations aimed at restoring peace and stability across Kwara State and its environs.

PHOTOS: FCT police arrest 4 suspects for one-chance robbery and attempted kidnapping

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested four suspects involved in a one-chance robbery and attempted kidnapping.

They also successfully rescued two victims in the process.

This was disclosed in a statement released Sunday, October 12, 2025, and signed by the FCT command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.

According to the statement: “On 8th October 2025, at about 10:09 p.m., the Command received a report at Life Camp Police Station that a victim had called in distress, alleging that she had been abducted by suspected criminals who demanded a ransom of ₦1,000,000 for her release.

“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives from Life Camp Division immediately swung into action. Through the deployment of digital and tactical intelligence, on 9th October 2025, at about 4:30 a.m., the suspects were arrested at Dape Village after a near-deadly confrontation with the police.

“Two victims were rescued during the operation. However, one of them, who sustained multiple stab wounds inflicted by the suspects, was promptly rushed to Gwarinpa General Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.”

The arrested suspects – all male – were identified as Solomon Tanko, Samuel Audu, Chigozie Joseph, Emmanuel Chidiebere.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspects have been involved in a series of one-chance robberies around the Bannex and Kado areas, using a vehicle with tinted windows to deceive unsuspecting passengers. They revealed that they had picked and robbed six victims, both men and women, before their arrest,” the police PRO disclosed.

“Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: 15 international passports, two sharp daggers, two cutlasses, bloodstained documents, four mobile phones, two hammers, and three biros.”

Adeh said the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

She added: “The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, commended the swift response of the Life Camp Divisional Police Officers and urged residents to always trust the police and report incidents promptly for quick intervention.

“He also advised members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, and CRU FCT: 08107314192.”
