A former Prince George’s County judge, April Ademiluyi, has hinted that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, may not be capable of helping to tackle terrorism ravaging the northern part of Nigeria.
Ademiluyi, a resident of Maryland in the US, made this known in an opinion piece titled Exposing Corruption: The Fight Against Profit-driven Incarceration of Children, shared with Diaspora Tales on Monday.
The Nigerian-American attorney stated this in the piece while explaining how she was allegedly removed from the bench in 2024 for exposing corruption in the state’s judiciary.
“In my campaign for judge, I pledged to work with law enforcement to expose the bribery scheme unjustly incarcerating children and to dismantle the unequal justice system that allows the elite to evade accountability,” she said.
“My commitment, however, to being a whistleblower subjected me to severe harassment, including unlawful termination from my judgeship.”
Speaking on her quest for justice, she wrote, “We are awaiting action from the Department of Justice to prosecute the judges and politicians for their corruption and violence towards me and the children.”
Trump recently re-designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and instructed American troops to prepare for possible action to combat terrorists.
Reacting, Ademiluyi said the US president had not shown credibility in addressing terrorism and corruption in the US, making it difficult to believe he could do so in Nigeria.
“I can’t speak to Trump’s intentions in Nigeria or even the perfect strategy to defeat corruption and terrorism there. But I can say that, thus far, the US Senate and Trump have not proven to be credible or effective when it comes to combating terrorism and corruption in the US. Therefore, I find it hard to believe they can fix Nigeria’s problems,” she added.
